NP_ExpiringComments.php

This plugin automatically marks items as closed after they are a week old. This prevents comment spammers from slipping in once you're no longer likely to notice them.

Written while very tired, working a backshift in an emergency room on a slow night. (Is this true?)

Installing

  1. Unzip the file and upload the contents to your plugin directory
  2. Install the plugin…
  3. To use it, simply insert <%plugin(ExpiringComments)%> somewhere in your template (whichever template is used to display

comments). I recommend the Item Header area.

How to use the plugin

  • You don't use it. It works automatically.

  • None.

Wishlist

  • Ability to specify expiration time (currently, it is hard-coded at one week.)
  • Ability to have items expire once they roll off of the front page.
  • Ability to selectively disable the expiration on certain posts.
